Finally! A comic strip about us!

On spec I picked up copy of James Asal's book Adam and Andy. When I opened the book I hollered to John: "Someone's drawn a comic strip about us!?!"

You might think a comic strip about a committed gay couple who don't look much like the beautiful bodies in Queer As Folk and who love being at home with their crazy dog wouldn't be very interesting. I absolutely loved it, though. My life isn't much like a soap opera (most of the time...), and it looks pretty dull - and I absolutely love sharing every minute of it with John. Adam and Andy looks at queer life the way I live it.

We got a little bit crazy...

Here witness what happens when two bibliomanes go a bit crazy for a year. John's sorting out books we've bought over the past year. He's been stashing most of them in his office - the stacks we called it. We thought, of course, that he would have moved his shop by now to commercial space. Once that happens we'll transform his shop into a library - mirabile dictu - and these stacks will miraculously shelve themselves.

We had folks coming for our second Thanksgiving dinner yesterday night, and he decided to re-stack these refugees to make a bit more space. I figured no one would believe it unless I documented the piles.

Morning light

I snapped this quickly this morning before the clouds moved in and obscured all the morning light. We had a rainstorm last night which left the granite stone basin in the garden filled part-way.

I'm heading out to California tomorrow.

Got myself an iSongBook

I've been wanting music in the kitchen and dining room, but I haven't known exactly what to buy. Then I found Tivoli Audio's iSongBook: a portable stereo radio and music playback system that docks with an iPod. I ordered one and I've loved it. It sits tucked away under a kitchen cabinet with my older iPod docked with it. The dock is probably the best iPod peripheral design so far: it folds out from the unit's body when you want to use it. It also uses Apple's new universal dock technology. Tivoli Audio supplies dock adapters for most iPods; you simply plug in the adapter that fits your iPod, dock the iPod, and play away.

Even though it's portable - and battery powered - I may get another one for the bedroom.

OK, I know I've been awful

I completely lost this blog during November. I headed west for a week's work in Menlo Park, California. When I got home on the 8th, I had one day on the ground before John and I headed to the Two Rivers Art Festival in Des Moines. I must confess not to have done anything on that trip, and I loved being totally idle.

I've been cracking the whip since I got back. My group is presenting our strategic plan next week (I'm heading west again on Tuesday, 29 November) - so I've been writing like a madman. I've not had much energy to do any writing at all after I'm done at work.

Anyway the plan is done - it better be because we launch the thing next week - and I've been having a wonderful time here at home. I'll post a bit over the next day or so: I have new recipe videos and a few pictures here and there.
