The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art accepted my work, Early Spring at Indian Creek, for their upcoming exhibition, Cedar Rapids: Day into Night! I got the word on Saturday; I couldn't have been more surprised. They had 152 submissions from sixty artists.
John and I walk the countryside around Cedar Rapids every week. One cold April morning in 2004 I shot this as the sun broke through clouds above Indian Creek.
The show opens on 22 September. If you can come I'd love to say hi!

Just yesterday, my son (who lives in Indianapolis) and I (living in New York) purchased what we affectionately call the "mini mansion" located in Indy. It's actually a mini mansion in need of many mansion renovation, which is my son's profession. Last evening, after the closing on the house, my son and his fiancee went over to imagine what it will one day look like in the distant future. They no sooner entered the house when they were inundated with fire and policemen. Apparently in a house behind them was an elderly lady who needed medical assistance. After the paramedics took care of her, the police and firemen asked if they could view the house. Eventually, about 10 residents in the area came in to see who was no living in the house after it had been abandonded for many years. Apparently, (and the reason for my comments to you) the house seemingly back in the early 20's or so, belong to a very well-known family named Sidebottom. I entered the name into my computer and happened upon your beautiful photographs. Good things happen when you least expect them. Loved the pooches even better. Do you know of any Sidebottoms in Indianapolis? Apparently one of the elderly neighbors still knows of a Sidebottom who formerly occupied this house (now in her 90's.) She would like to get in touch with her and have her visit her old home. Hope we can accomplish that. Good luck to you both in your endeavors. Nancy Delano(no relation to the Delano-Roosevelts)
