The local arts district has a great open invitational art show, 2 x 2 x u, that opened last weekend here in Cedar Rapids. The assignment is simple: pay a small entrance fee, pick up a 2' x 2' square piece of plywood, build your art on it, and bring it back to be displayed in the arts district for about three months. John always participates, and we both get a kick out of the work folks do. Accomplished professionals enter and amateurs do, too. There's no judging - and that makes it fun.
